Performance NotesThe group who aim to inject new blood into the Welsh male choir tradition performed two concerts in the Hall's Elgar Room with music director Tim Rhys-Evans MBE. The eight-piece Only Men Aloud performed a varied and eclectic repertoire, from Welsh folksongs and hymns to musicals and opera; from barbershop and swing to pop. The choir won the BBC's Last Choir Standing in 2008, releasing their Gold-selling debut album shortly afterwards. Their second album Band of Brothers went straight to the top of the classical charts and won Album of the Year at the 2010 Classical BRIT Awards. The group were part of the ensemble premiering Rick Smith's hypnotic Caliban's Dream at the London 2012 Opening Ceremony as the cauldron was lit.
