Performance Notes | Poejazzi, London's premier spoken word and music night, was hosted by the Royal Albert Hall for the first time. Known for featuring a mixture of established and up and coming artists, Poejazzi has been named Time Out Critic's Choice several times, been included in its list of 101 Things To Do Around London and they have curated events for establishments ranging from Bestival to The Southbank Centre.
The evening featured new material from Eska, a phenomenal singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer and live favourite, rising stars Anna Lena and The Orchids, whose "beautifully controlled, expertly pieced together" music "recalls the likes of Bat For Lashes" (Clash Magazine) Hollie McNish, whose witty and yet sensitive poems ranging on everything from love to pop culture have garnered her over a million views on YouTube, soulful rock with an orchestral quality from London based band Hejira, and poetry from John Berkavitch, who combines wry social observation with hip hop stylings. |
