| Performance Notes | Unlike most of today's singer songwriters, Emilia Mårtensson's teenage years were not spent exploring the catalogues of Dylan, Waits, Young and Drake, rather, her evenings were spent listening to Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Anita O' Day in the depths of Southern Sweden's countryside where she lived. Emilia moved away from her home in Sweden in 2000 to study music at one of London's most prestigious conservatories, Trinity College of Music. She graduated in 2007 and has since then been making her mark on the UK Jazz Scene and has performed at venues and festivals such as Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, The Vortex, The 606, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, The Love Supreme Jazz Festival as well as festivals and venues around big parts of Europe with a focus on Scandinavia. For sure, the jazz vocal legends inform Emilia's approach, yet it is the Swedish folk songs of her country that underpins who she is.
