Performance NotesThe Albert Memorial was newly restored to its former golden splendour for the first time since 1915. The statue was blackened during the First World War and this event saw its unveiling having undergone restoration and re-guilding in 23 1/2 carat gold leaf. The restoration project cost £11.2 million and four years of work by English Heritage. The event saw HM The Queen, Prince Albert's great-great granddaughter, unveil the statue.

Lasers and lighting were affixed to the Hall to shine on the newly restored Albert Memorial for this re-opening ceremony. Press photographers were permitted to use the balcony over the Door 6 porch to photograph the event.

Guests accompanying The Queen included Lady Farnham, Sir Robert Fellowes, Sqd Ldr David Robinson.
Guests at the event included The Earl of Snowdon - Provost of the Royal College of Art (RCA), Prof. Christopher Frayling - The Rector of the RCS, The Chairman of the RCA, Claire Alman - The Curator.
