Performance Notes"BAN BOMB MAN SHOUTED DOWN.
ALAMEIN REUNION OUTBURST.
An anti-nuclear demonstrator was shouted down at the El Alamein reunion at the Albert Hall last night when he cried: "What about the bomb? Are you going to fight against it?"
His outburst followed a speech by Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery who had declared: "Our young people must be taught to get their sense of values right. Many of them - too many - think that in the late war we fought for peace. We did not. We fought for freedom and justice.
"Peace, in itself, has no merit. Its merit lies in th efact that it provides the best conditions for working towards our ideals of freedom and justice.
"Our boys must be taught that England means something more than just a welfare State. We have got to make it clear to them that our nation has a very great deal to be proud of in the past and something to do in the future."
DIETRICH AND VERA LYNN.
Marlene Dietrich was at the reunion and sang 'Lilli Mariene.' Vera Lynn sang 'We'll meet again.'"
(The Daily Telegraph, 26 October 1963)

The Earl of Avon, who was wartime Foreign Secretary, was guest of honour.
