Performance Notes | This concert was in aid of the funds for the Inter-Allied War Memorial, outside Amiens in France.
Prior to the concert the band of the Gards Republicaine were was welcomed on Saturday evening at Victora Station in London on their arrival from Paris. As the train came to a standstill the band of the Welsh Guards struck up 'The Marseillaise' and were formally welcomed by Viscount Burnham as Chairman of the British Committee of the Somme Battlefields Memorial. The band marched from Victoria to the Palace Hotel in Bloomsbury via Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly, Oxford Street and were cheered by members of the public. (The Daily Telegraph, 9 July 1923)
