Seated in the Royal Box with them were The Right Worhsipful the Mayor (Alderman Charles P Russell) and the Mayoress of the City of Westminster, the Deputy Chairman of the Council (Mr Frederick Lawrence JP) and Mrs Lawrence, the Leader of the Council (Mr I J Heyward JP), the Chief Whip of the Majority Party (Mrs Freda Corbet MP), the Chairman of the Education Committee (Mr R McKinnon Wood) and Mrs Wood, the Clerk of the Council and Lady Roberts, and the Education Officer (Dr John Brwon MBE) and Mrs Brown.
HRH The Duchess of Gloucester departed after the second interval.
