Helene Grimaud wrote in 'Wild Harmonies', "I have never cried while playing, except on the night of September 11, 2001. (
) I had a lump in my throat when I walked onstage, and when I greeted the audience and the musicians. All of them, I knew had the same images in their minds, the same pain. But we played, played in honor of life. From the very first measures, I felt a warm liquid dampering my hands and and the keyboards - my tears. I believe that the entire audience was crying a well." |
