Performance Notes"Homely Entertainment
The "Trapp Family Singers" from Austria - a mother with several daughters, a con-in-law and the family chaplain, all of them instrumentalists (on recorders, gamba and harpsichord) as well as singers - made their first London appearance last night at the Albert Hall. This was not a suitable scene for such a homely entertainment; but the pleasant little party succeeded in making friends with the audience. They gave us 16th-century music and folk-songs unassumingly but musically, with pure intonation and quality."
