"The tale of a duck provided the most unusual, and by that criterion the most remarkable, evidence at this year's Service of Reunion on Sunday. The duck's life began in a most remarkable way. It was the only duck-egg among a clutch of hen-eggs. Jordan Gill, frankly puzzled by the bizarre turn his message was taking, relayed that information to a man seated at a distance round the perimeter of the hall. And the duck had a remarkable ending. It did not die normally, nor was it killed for the pot - though it had been eaten, said the puzzled medium. Now over to the man who received the message. Mr William Mark Wiggett... is vice-president of the Bennington Street Church. He remembered the duck. It had been hatched among a clutch of hen eggs as the medium said. And it had been killed and eaten by a cat. This is the trivial, yet paradoxically tremendous, kind of information that counts in clairvoyance - for only the family would know of it and it is not of such importance that the receiver would be expecting it to be referred to. And few people can have raised one duck among many hens and had it killed by a cat? ... The messsge began with the name of Mr Wiggett's wife - Gert. Then Tony (his son) was mentioned. Tony, a sailor, was killed during the war at the age of nineteen and last week his anniversary fell. The medium asked if he drove a car. Mr Wiggett drove up from Cheltenham for the meeting.
