Performance Notes"At the end there was a descriptive fantasia, "The British Army" (Julien), in which the bands were supplemented by the drums, fifes, and pipers of the Guards in a way that made a stirring appeal. In the distance troops were heard advancing to an attack upon the eneny, and into the hall came the English to the air of 'The British Grenadiers'; the Irish to 'Garry Owen'; the colonies to 'Soldiers of the King'; the Welsh to 'Men of Harlech'; the Indians to 'Takmi'; and the Scots to 'Highland Laddie'."
