| Performance Notes | Nina Simone's debut Royal Albert Hall performance. She would return to the Hall's stage for performances in 1989 and 1998, both with her daughter Lisa.
'"I remember Royal Albert Hall, they was in the street lined up," said [Dick] Gregory. "Sold that house every night. But I never heard her 'cause she was opening. I knew she was the buzz in my neighbourhood, with the people I hung out with. They'd memorize her songs. The white folks that was coming, they understood what she was talking about. And I know them jazz musicians couldn't wait to get offstage so they could put their horn down and come and listen to her - this woman with no sugar in it, just, here it is."'
