Performance NotesThis event was held to celebrate America's entry into the First World War. The Columbia Gramophone Company Ltd. defrayed all expenses connected with the concert and presented each serviceman who attended with a souvenir programme and a packet of cigarettes. The public were not admitted to the concert which was a free entertainment for wounded men only.

Rehearsals took place for two days prior to the event in order to ensure the perfect handling of the thousands of stretchers upon which around 2,500 wounded men from some two hundred war hospitals were brought into the Hall. Besides from nursing sisters in uniforms the audience was entirely made up of men in their blue hospital robes.

The London Motor Volunteers were responsible for the transport of the men to the concert. (The Times 25 June 1917).
