Performance NotesFirst ever English amateur ballroom dancing contest.

"NATIONAL AMATEUR CONTESTS.
At the Royal Albert Hall last night took place a tournament which was unique in the history of dancing: unique, also, in the history of that place of so many varied associations...It had been estimated, moderately enough, that in Great Britain to-day there are probably 20,000 amateur dancers to every professional. Professionals have their championships; but no such tournament as this had ever been conducted for those countles thousands who dance out of pure joie de vivre... "
