Performance NotesThis would be the last Festival of Remembrance until 1943 because of the Second World War.

The concert was broadcast by BBC radio.

Nearly 80,000 people applied for tickets. In the Royal box were the Duchess of Beaufort, Viscountess Halifax, Lord and Lady Eldon, Major-General Sir Frederick Maurice (President of the Legion), Major Sir Francis Fetherston-Godley (Legion Chairman), Lady Edward Spencer Churchill (Chairman of the Women's Section of the Legion) and other officials. Major-General Sir Frederick Maurice, President of the British Legion was seated in the Royal Box.

An innivation at this Festival was the appearance in the procession to the stage of six men wearing the uniform provided for members of the British Legion who volunteered for police duties in Czechoslovakia.
