Performance NotesThe event was broadcast on BBC One on Sunday 7 November 2020 at 21:10.

Prep days took place on 25-26 October 2020. A de-rig day was held on 29 October 2020.

Prince Charles and Camilla visited separately to give interviews to camera in the auditorium.

The Royal British Legion issued the following statement;
"The Royal British Legion has developed plans to ensure the Festival of Remembrance will go ahead this year, and together with the BBC is creating a pre-recorded programme that will be broadcast on BBC One on Saturday 7 November.

In light of current government restrictions and social distancing guidelines we are unable to offer the opportunity for members, staff, volunteers or members of the public to attend the filming of the event. We recognise that this will be disappointing news for many but it is a necessary step to comply with government guidance and to protect the health and well-being of those who would be travelling to and attending the event whilst Coronavirus is still present."

Huw Edwards presented the Royal British Legion's annual Festival of Remembrance from the Royal Albert Hall. In this socially distanced event HRH the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall paid special tribute to the contributions of Her Majesty's armed forces as well as the nursing profession.

2020 marked 75 years since the end of the Second World War, and this was reflected through veterans' first-hand experiences of service in Europe and the Far East. Wartime testimonies were read by Oscar-nominated actor Samantha Morton, star of The Sister Nina Toussaint-White, Eastenders actor Kara-Leah Fernandes and West End star Julian Ovenden. The nation's most well-known veteran, Captain Sir Tom Moore, talked to Huw about his inspirational achievements and what remembrance means to him.

Mica Paris, Freya Ridings, Marisha Wallace, Laura Main, Ramin Karimloo and Sophie Ellis-Bextor performed alongside the military musicians from the armed forces, while Michael Ball and Alfie Boe paid a surprise visit to some well-loved veterans at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

The event culminated in the act of remembrance, and as the petals fell in the Royal Albert Hall, the festival paid tribute to all victims of war and remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms and way of life.
