Performance NotesJohn Curry, Olympic skating gold medallist who brought balletic grace to ice dance (sometimes called the Nureyev of Ice) brought 'A Symphony on Ice' to the Hall. The event featured his company of skaters from the USA and Canada and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. This was the first ever dedicated ice skating event to have taken place at the Royal Albert Hall, at which the whole arena floor was frozen over. At the end of the run the ice was chopped up, put in skips and dumped in the River Thames.

During a television interview in advance of his appearance at the Royal Albert Hall, John Curry said, "When I turned professional it's the place I wanted to go to, its taken seven years to get there"
