BiographyCallum McLeod studied at the Royal Academy of Music and in his final year was awarded the Chappell Gold Medal. He has subsequently been awarded an ARAM.
He is co-founder and a Managing Director of the British Philharmonic Orchestra which has supported many international artists including Andrea Bocelli, Katherine Jenkins, Dame Shirley Bassey, Michael Ball, Bryn Terfel, Josh Groban and Rod Stewart.
As Musical Director for Michael Ball, Callum has orchestrated and conducted many national and international tours, Gala concerts, TV and Radio specials working with orchestras including the BBC Welsh, BBC Concert, and the Royal Philharmonic. On New Year's Eve 1999 Callum conducted the YTL Concert Of Celebration in Malaysia where Michael Ball, Andrea Griminelli and Gillian Humphreys performed with the 120 piece Italian I.S.O. to an audience of more than 150,000.
In 2004 he conducted Michael Ball's hugely successful tour of Australia as well as his two sell-out concerts in Salt Lake City USA. He has orchestrated tracks for Michael's Gold and Platinum selling albums and conducted the two best selling DVD's "Michael Ball Live At The Royal Albert Hall" and "Michael Ball Live In London" (Hammersmith). In August of 2007 he conducted the BBC Concert Orchestra for Michael's sensational Promenade concert, televised live from the Royal Albert Hall.
Callum has worked as musical supervisor, arranger and conductor on several occasions for Bryn Terfel's Faenol Festival, devising programmes starring Bryn Terfel, Audra McDonald, Michael Ball, Connie Fisher, Ruthie Henshall, and John Owen Jones, all televised live by BBC Wales.
He also conducted the Royal Albert Hall debut of Reba McEntire - one of America's foremost recording artists having sold over 40 million albums.
Up coming concerts include appearances at major UK outdoor venues including Hampton Court, Audley End, Kenwood House and Leeds Castle.
Callum is the composer of Carmen Latina, the rock/salsa version of Bizet's Carmen www.carmenlatina.com and has also recently collaborated with the legendary Graeme Garden on a musical comedy piece for theatre, Pocket Orchestra which premiered at the Trafalgar Studios, London. Both pieces have received wide critical acclaim.
