Workers in Wood and Brick This panel features the Israelites at work in Egypt, under their hard taskmasters, tempering clay, moulding bricks and drying them in the sun. To the right of the brick-makers, a group pulls a huge sphinx into position outside the doors of a temple, guarded by two obelisks. To their right, wood-workers fell trees and raise into place the wooden columns of an ancient temple. c1869-1870
