The message on the front reads:
'Wishing you many happy returns of the day. With love from Millie.'
The address on the rear reads:
'Miss Dorothy Stokes, c/o Mr George Stokes, Shortmead Street, Biggleswade.

Mr George Witty Stokes was the owner of a shop at No.8-10 Shortmead Street with a large yard and storage to the rear. Mr Stokes purchased the property in 1894 for £465.10s. He was a paperhanger, decorator, painter, plumber &amp; glazier and operated from there until 1922 when aged 71, he had a fatal fall in the street and the whole site was for sale.</dc:description>
