Of English origin, Ian James Gaukroger was born and raised in English-speaking Zimbabwe, and has lived in London, Hong Kong and the United States. Now a sixteen-year resident of the Netherlands, Ian has considerable translation experience of texts dealing with various branches of law, as well as subjects ranging from music to marketing and information technology. In 1999 he completed a course in legal translation. Since then he has specialised in legal translations from Dutch to English. In 2001 he was sworn by the District Court of Amsterdam. Ian regularly attends courses and seminars to update his translation skills. Before moving to Amsterdam, Ian obtained his Master of Music Degree, studying first in London and then in Rochester, New York. As a professional pianist he has performed with many prestigious ensembles and orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
