James L Hayes, an educator and former president of the American Management Association was dean of the School of Business Administration at Duquesne University from 1959 to 1970. He moved to the management association as executive vice president, and he became president and chief executive in 1971. He retired in 1982. Mr. Hayes was also on the faculty of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University and had taught economics at St. Bonaventure University.
