She studied at the Royal Conservatorie, Vancouver.

Her London debut came in 1965, where she sanf the title role in Madame Butterfly with Sadler's Wells Opera, with little rehearsal as the scheduled soprano became ill before the performance.

She first performed in Scotland on a tour with the Sadler's Wells Company in 1969 in Verdi's Force of Destiny, singing the role of Leonora. The following year she made her debut with Scottish Opera in a revival of Peter Ebert's Don Giovanni under Alexander Gibson. In 1984 she returned to SO to sing another revival of the opera Turn of the Screw. </OtherInfo>
