Music Group; Classical The Brandenburg Consort is a period instrument ensemble specialising in the music of J.S.Bach and his contemporaries. Its Musical Director, Roy Goodman, is one of Britain's leading specialists in authentic performing styles. Under his direction (from violin, keyboard or rostrum) the Consort has developed an enviable reputation for style, vitality, warmth and spontaneity. The Consort has given a large number of concerts in Britain and abroad. It has made a substantial number of CD recordings for Hyperion, Decca, Vanguard Classics and Columns Classics, including orchestral music by George Frideric Handel, Arcangelo Corelli, Avison, J.S. Bach and Wassenaer, Operatic Arias and Sinfonias by Händel and Antonio Vivaldi (Kirkby/Goodman) and a disc of Baroque "pops" under the title Rondeaux Royaux. It has accompanied the King's College Choir Cambridge under the direction of Stephen Cleobury in recordings for CD and television of Händel's Israel in Egypt and Messiah (the latter won a Golden Angel Award for best music programme for television in 1996) and J.S. Bach's St John (BWV 245) and St Matthew Passions (BWV 244).
