Richard John Carew Chartres KCVO FSA (born 11 July 1947) became Bishop of London in 1995. He also joined the British Privy Council in 1995. Before this appointment, he was Bishop of Stepney from 1992 to 1995 and Gresham Professor of Divinity from 1987 to 1992.
