International Relations; Charity The Lord Baldwin Fund for Refugees was created by the former prime minister, Earl Baldwin in December 1938 . Other trustees included , Lord Tyrrell of Avon, PreSident of the British Board of Film Censors since 1935, and former British Ambassador in Paris, Earl Grey, Chairman of the Central Board of Finance of the Church of England, Viscount Bearstead, a prominent Jew, and Lord Stamp, Chairman of the L.M.S. and a Director of the Bank of England, representing the Free Churches.It successfully raised £500,000, mainly to help Jewish refugee children and was closed in May 1939, after it was decided that there were too many competing organisations and its funds were redistributed.
