Became a professional singer travelling the worlds singing opera and Scos ballads wuth artists such as Dame Nellie Melba and Mary Garden. Chairman of the MacRoberts Trusts, Aberdeenshire. Breeder of pedigree cattle for Lasy MacRobert's farm at Douneside, Tarland. Received honorary membership of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland in 1964. Conferred an honorary degree of LL.D. by Aberdeen University in 1964. Opened the MacRobert Pavilion at the Royal Highland Society's showground at Islington, Edinburgh.
