Richard Temple Savage was an orchestral musician who played bass clarinet under Sir Thomas Beecham in the LPO from 1934 until 1946. Thereafter he became Chief Librarian and a member of the orchestra at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He received the MBE in 1980 for services to music.
