Bradley Creswick studied at the Royal College of Music under Jaroslav Vanecek and later with Emanuel Hurwitz. He made his solo debut in 1981 with the Philharmonia performing Bach’s Double Concerto. In 1984 Bradley became Leader of Northern Sinfonia and later that year was soloist in the first American performances of Malcolm Williamson’s “Lament in memory of Lord Mountbatten of Burma”. In 1987 he left the Sinfonia to lead two of the great London orchestras, the Philharmonia and the Royal Opera House Orchestra.

Ten years after first becoming Leader of Northern Sinfonia he returned to Newcastle to reclaim the position of Leader. Bradley recently played Vaughan Williams’ “The Lark Ascending” as part of the BBC Proms in the Park on Baltic Square, Gateshead - the piece he made his Proms debut with in 1989. On the international stage Bradley appeared with Northern Sinfonia in Bergen performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and in Basel with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra performing Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante.

Bradley Creswick has undertaken many recordings and broadcasts with Northern Sinfonia including music by Vaughan Williams for EMI and the Concerti Grossi Op.3 for Naxos and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra for Novalis. He has also recorded a CD of Handel and Telemann with the Lancashire Sinfonietta and Mezzo Jane Irwin, which is available to purchase tonight or to download from the Sinfonietta website.

Bradley is often guest leader with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and regularly performs at the Chorlston Manor Chamber Music Festival with Robert Cohen, Musical Director. Recently, Bradley has been invited twice to the Marlboro Music Festival in America and is asked regularly to guest lead a wide range of orchestras. Playing with friends is a vibrant part of life and he relishes the chance to play with the pianist Margaret Fingerhut, giving recitals around the country; he has occasionally been heard laying western swing fiddle “back home.”

The Lancashire Sinfonietta has enjoyed many years of music making with Bradley and is delighted that Bradley continues to join them as one of their treasured Guest Directors. He returns in June 2011.</OtherInfo>
