John is the Chairman and Group Chief Executive of the Unipart Group of Companies. He is a Non-executive Director of Rolls Royce, a member of the Council and Board of Business in the Community, and Vice President of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. He was formerly a Director of the Bank of England and a non-executive Director of the Royal Mail and Charter International plc. He was awarded a CBE in June 1994. He’s renowned for turning Unipart around from a firm of 2000 employees to 10,000 and his regular media commentary, particularly for stating in The Guardian and The Independent that Unipart could turn-around The NHS.
