Marie Sato started playing flute at the age of 7 and, since 2009, has been a student at the Royal College of Music Junior Department (RCMJD), where she studies with Simon Channing, Head of Woodwind. At the RCMJD in 2015 Marie won the Marjorie Humby Memorial Competition and earlier this year won first prize in the Gordon Tuner Memorial Competition. She is principal flute of both the RCMJD Symphony Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and was a Woodwind category finalist in this year’s BBC Young Musician competition.
