Musician; Vocals, soprano Yorkshire born soprano Rowan Pierce has appeared on the concert platform throughout Europe and in South America. She has performed with ensembles including the Academy of Ancient Music, Gabrieli Consort, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Florilegium and the London Handel Players. She has worked with leading interpreters: Richard Egarr, Paul McCreesh, Laurence Cummings, Christopher Glynn, Roger Vignoles, Malcolm Martineau and will work with Stephen Layton, Robert Howarth, William Christie and the OAE in coming months. As a Britten Pears Young Artist, she performed Drusilla in Monteverdi’s? L’incoronazione di Poppea. Other roles include Galatea in Handel's Acis & Galatea, Iris in Handel’s Semele, Susanna in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Miss Wordsworth, Emmie and Cis in Britten’s Albert Herring and Princess in Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortilèges. Rowan has performed live on BBC Radio 3’s InTune from the V&A and Wigmore Hall, at the Royal Albert Hall, Symphony Hall Birmingham, Sage Gateshead and the Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace. She was the winner of the Van Someren Godfery Prize, the first Schubert Society Singer Prize and a Young Artist for Iain Burnside in his Ludlow Festival. Other festival appearances include Oxford Lieder, Leeds Lieder, Swaledale, Ryedale, Bath International, Poznan International, London Handel Festival. Rowan is a Samling artist and was generously supported by the Countess of Munster Award and Midori Nishiura at the RCM. In 2017 she was awarded the President's Award by HRH Prince of Wales.
