Peter Holder is Sub-Organist of Westminster Abbey, and is the principal organist for daily services, concerts, recordings, and state occasions. He supports James O’Donnell in training the choristers and conducting the world-famous Abbey Choir. Peter served as Sub-Organist of St Paul’s Cathedral between 2014-17. He accompanied countless liturgies and worked alongside Simon Johnson in expanding the portfolio of organ events at the Cathedral, including staging two Grand Organ Galas, in which he appeared as soloist in concerti by Handel and Poulenc. Peter is also an Organ Tutor at the Royal Academy of Music, where he previously undertook undergraduate and postgraduate studies, gaining numerous scholarships and awards, most notably HRH Princess Alice the Duchess of Gloucester’s Prize for exemplary studentship at graduation in 2013. In 2016, Peter was elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. He continues his repertoire studies with David Titterington, Jon Laukvik and Patrick Russill, and improvisation with Thierry Escaich. As an international recitalist, Peter performs in cathedrals and concert halls across the world. His first solo recording, produced at Neresheim Abbey, features the works of the Bach family, Mozart, and Rinck. He regularly broadcasts for BBC radio and television. Peter’s solo repertoire is broad and eclectic, and includes transcriptions of celebrated orchestral scores (see link). His concerto repertoire includes works by Handel, Lou Harrison and Poulenc and his orchestral repertoire includes the works of composers such as Duruflé, Elgar, Resphigi, Saint-Säens (Symphony No 3) and Walton.
