A native of Warsaw, he became a German citizen when he joined the Berlin orchestra in the 1930's. He left his post there to come to America in 1939 because his wife was Jewish. He became concertmaster in turn of the Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony and New York City Symphony. His recital debut in Town Hall in 1943 was highly praised. Mr. Kolberg taught in the various cities in which he was playing. He went back to the Berlin Philharmonic in 1958, retiring in 1963. Two years later he settled on Long Island.</OtherInfo>
