Musician; Singer-Songwriter / Piano Peter Skellern (14 March 1947-17 February 2017) was an English singer-songwriter and pianist born in Lancashire. Skellern studied piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and later joined the pop groups Harlem and March Hare. Skellern's style trademark was the subtle use of brass bands to create a nostalgic and romantic feel. In 1984 he formed the group Oasis with cellist Julian Lloyd Webber and Mary Hopkin. On 16 October 2016, he was ordained as a deacon and priest of the Church of England by the Bishop of Truro, and died four months later as the result of a brain tumour.
