He was an officer in the military and figured some time in London , after which he was in the country was known as the Count in The Marriage of Figaro at the National Theatre (1937). During World War II , having fled by boat to Shetland in November, 1941, he was stationed at the information office in London and provided in collaboration with Soffi Schønning 652 concerts of Norwegian music. Part of the time was at the English Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA). In the post he continued with the tournament. Johnson was among the soloists in Götterdämmerung-recording in 1956 where Kirsten Flagstad topped soloist team. He's got a permanent job as an opera soloist when the Norwegian Opera was established in 1958 with Flagstad as the first opera manager.
