German Musician; Singer, soprano White Wife of Max Otto (chief customs officer) (m.1866) Heterosexual Henriette Melitta Otto-Alvsleben was a German opera singer and voice teacher. She began training at the age of 14, first on the piano and later as a singer at the Dresden Conservatory. Avsleben took part in the world premiere of the opera Der Haideschacht by Franz von Holstein on October 24, 1868 in Dresden. She made her international debut in London in 1873 at St James Hall, accompanied by pianist Clara Schumann. She then gave concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, Crystal Palace and Leeds Festival in 1874. In 1875, she became a prima donna at the Hamburg City Theatre.
